THE FASTNET, THE GREATEST OCEAN RACE
Have you ever dreamt of competing with the great names of the yachting world in one of the most prestigious Ocean Races? With NONSTOP Sail taking part in the Fastnet, this could easily become a reality. Our Fastnet Campaign enables you to train and compete with a yacht racing team and experience one of the greatest races in the world. Since it began in 1925, the Fastnet Race has grown to become one of THE Ocean Races. The Fastnet involves over 250 yachts racing a 608 mile course, starting in Cowes at the Royal Yacht Squadron, rounding the Fastnet Rock on the Southern tip of Ireland and finishing in Plymouth approximately five days later. To find out how you can be part of NONSTOP Sail Fastnet crew, read on!
QUALIFYING FOR THE FASTNET
The RORC (Royal Offshore Racing Club) have certain qualifying requirements for the crews and yachts. The most significant of these is that each client must complete 300 miles of RORC offshore racing to enter the Fastnet. Our campaign programme takes all the requirements into account so the whole team will be fine to compete. You will need to set aside four weekends in addition to the Fastnet Race, so that you can take part in three qualifying races and a training weekend. These races are necessary for you to meet RORC regulations but equally as important, they allow the crew to gain invaluable experience and training before the big race. During this time crew roles will be allocated, mark rounding perfected, sail and spinnaker handling practised and sail trim techniques refined. With all NONSTOP Sail programmes, safety is paramount. Therefore on the first training weekend, the whole crew will complete their RYA Basic Sea Survival Course and RYA First Aid Course.
